Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how DoIt — Smart Todo ("we", "our", or "the App") handles information when you use our application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices. The App is a Flutter-based productivity tool that stores all of your personal data exclusively on your device.

Information we collect

We do not collect, store, process, or transmit any personal information to external servers. All data you create stays exclusively on your device. Specifically, we do not collect:

No personal identifiers (name, email, phone number, account)
No usage analytics or behavioral tracking
No location data accessed or stored
No advertising identifiers used
No data sent to our servers or any third-party servers

Local data storage

All tasks, subtasks, categories, priorities, due dates, focus session durations, and completion history you create within the App are stored locally on your device using Hive (an on-device NoSQL database) and SharedPreferences (for app settings and gamification state). This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party. If you uninstall the App, all locally stored data will be permanently deleted.

Task data — task text, subtasks, due dates, priority, category, recurrence settings, and completion timestamps are stored in a local Hive database on your device.
Focus session data — time spent in Focus Mode per task is stored locally and used only to calculate your productivity insights and XP within the App.
Gamification data — your XP points, earned badges, and streak data are stored locally in SharedPreferences and never transmitted externally.
App preferences — theme settings (light/dark mode) and one-time setup flags are stored locally in SharedPreferences.

Local notifications

The App uses local push notifications (via flutter_local_notifications) to alert you when a task is due. These notifications are scheduled entirely on-device and are never routed through our servers or any third-party notification service. No notification content or metadata leaves your device.

No task content is transmitted to any server to deliver a notification.
You may deny notification permission at any time in your device settings; core task management features remain fully functional without it.

On Android, the App requests the POST_NOTIFICATIONS permission and, for exact due-date alerts, the SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM permission. If exact alarm permission is unavailable, the App falls back to inexact alarms. These permissions are used solely to deliver your own reminders and are never used to contact you for marketing purposes.

Share feature

The App includes an optional Share Progress Card feature that lets you export a screenshot of your productivity stats and share it via your device's native share sheet (e.g., to a messaging app, social media, or email). This sharing is entirely user-initiated and handled by your device's OS. The App does not upload your data to any server as part of this feature. A temporary image file is created in your device's cache directory and deleted when the share action completes.

Third-party services & libraries

The App uses the following open-source libraries entirely on-device. None of them transmit personal data to external servers on our behalf:

Hive / hive_flutter — on-device NoSQL database for task storage.
shared_preferences — on-device key-value store for app settings and gamification state.
flutter_local_notifications — schedules task reminder notifications locally on your device.
share_plus / path_provider — enables the optional progress-card sharing feature via your device's OS share sheet.
google_fonts — loads font files; this may result in a network request to Google's font CDN on first use. No personal data is sent.
provider / flutter_screenutil — UI state management and responsive layout; entirely on-device.

The App does not integrate with any analytics platforms, advertising networks, or data brokers.

Children's privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your region). Since no data is collected from any users, no special risk exists for younger users.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
